François Chollet 发文谈软件工程全面自动化的四条观察：软件工程师人数比 2025 年更多且需求在增长；工程师比以往更辛苦；他们基本不再写代码，约 100% 的代码由 Agent 编写；雇佣这些工程师和 Agent 的公司，其最终利润因 AI 采用而基本没有变化。他总结说必须用系统视角思考，自动化系统中的某一环节会产生自身摩擦，并把瓶颈转移到别处。
Some observations about the "total" automation of software engineering:
1. There are more software engineers now than in 2025, and demand is growing.
2. Software engineers have never worked harder than they do now.
3. They largely don't write code anymore, agents write ~100% of the code.
4. The bottom line of the companies that employs these engineers and agents (i.e. the terminal purpose of all this code) is typically not budging as a result of AI adoption.
This is why you have to think in terms of systems. Automating one aspect of a system creates its own friction and moves the bottlenecks elsewhere.
